My main image will portray the advancements of consumer technology of 1980s, which paved the way for many of our devices today, from the desktop, the laptop, game consoles, handhelds, cell phones, smartphones, and tablets. Either that or our triumphs in science that were watched in awe by millions.
My first image, the original Macintosh, reflects the importance of pop culture in the 1980s. This computer helped popularize the use of a GUI after a commercially failed Lisa, and pushed simple, usable computers into the hands of the masses. It also helped it's company later set the standard for a range of popular products.
The first cellular phone, created in the labs of Motorola Mobility, paved the way for the successive innovation of the modern day smartphone, all the way from the clam shell to the IBM Simon, Blackberry, Blackberry knockoffs, the iPhone, and the iPhone knockoffs (Android).
The Space Transport System, or the Space Shuttle Program, as it is often referred to as, captured the attention of the world as a "simple" plane that could land and be reused, and was a major pop culture icon. In more political matters, it created a common goal for the 15 countries that built the ISS, and the many more who have had astronauts visit it.
