Waterloo (Dogs Playing Poker)
- Form; used to show the shape of the dogs around the table, as well as the circular shape of the table.
- Color; used on the walls and table with the red and green complementary colors, respectively.*
- Texture; used to show the dogs' furs' texture, as well as the felt on the table and the decorative wood design on its bottom.
- Value; used to distinguish between the similar shades used on many of the dogs' fur, as well as the extent of the room the overhead light can reach.
- Space; used to show the positions of the dogs relative to one another around the table.
- Proportion/Scale; used to convey the size of the dogs by their relative size to the cards and each other.
Dog Pile!
- Shape; used in the piling of the dogs to create a sense of, well, a pile of dogs. MAD SKILLZ!
- Color; used similarly to the original in that the background color is close to the wall's color, and looks nice when used next to the monochromatic color of some dogs' fur.*
- Texture; also like the original, shows the dogs' furs' texture as being short and straight or long and fluffy.
- Value; the background color is a very similar shade to that of some dogs' fur, providing an interesting effect, but is different enough to make the two distinguishable.
- Space; this picture varies greatly from the original painting, such as how Waterloo seemingly observed the laws of physics, if not those of nature, while Dog Pile! is more of a montage of dogs, chips, cards, and drinks, with no real-world sort of layout.
- Balance; made through the generally triangular snap of the pile of dogs to create a sense of structure in this chaotic dog-stack-dog world.
- Focus Point; located on the pile of dogs, the focus point draws eyes to the main, if not only, objects on the photo.
*I want to note that my writing on red- or green-like colors may be considered incorrect, as I have red-green deficiency.
- The Quick Selection Tool; the most-used tool that was employed to cut out all the dogs, cards and drinks.
- The Magic Wand Tool; used to select most of the chips from the table.
- The Move Tool; used to move all content from Waterloo to Dog Pile!.
- The Fill Tool; used to fill the background of Dog Pile! with a dark red color.
